I wish I knew how important it is to have an organized schedule of your deadlines. I chose Waterloo over other universities mostly because of the amazing co-op program and because the fee was relatively low. Advantages of this University include really supportive and knowledgeable staff (professors and others) as well as a lot of clubs and other opportunities to interact with people. A disadvantage would be that it is a competitive university and it is important to be hard working in order to succeed in Waterloo.
What did you wish you knew before choosing your specific program? What are the advantages and disadvantages of your program? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your program of study.
I think my program gives me a good exposure to both Psychology and Business and I won’t change anything about it.
What was your favourite university experience?
My best experience till now has been my psychology classes because of the professors I’ve had. Other than that being a part of UWAFFLE (club) has been really fun.
What was your least favourite university experience?
It was probably the start of my University because it took me some time to adjust to the new and drastic change in my life.
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
I think at times where I felt stuck in any course, I either reached out to my TA or my professor and they were always happy to assist and help out. If you have any difficulties in how to write essays or exams then there is a writing centre on campus that helps students with that.
If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?
My favourite course has been SMF 101 because of the professor! She was very open-minded and there were a lot of opportunities to learn and discuss various topics that I would've normally gotten a chance to study about.
