What did you wish you knew before going to your university? What made you choose this institution over all others? What are advantages and disadvantages of your institution or campus? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your university.
I chose Ryerson because it was the best program for my field. Ryerson has fantastic resources for mental health, LGBT+ and many more. It is very accessible after sending an email or two. I think the disadvantage is it's a commuter school and that's not the institution it's more of a location thing. In first-year, try to join any clubs or after school programs if you don't vibe with anyone in your program. At least at these after school clubs, there is a common interest.
What did you wish you knew before choosing your specific program? What are the advantages and disadvantages of your program? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your program of study.
Explore everything! University is a time to do whatever! You are in this stage of life where you should explore your surroundings and yourself. Sometimes life feels like it's ending, but it’s not. It's okay to try a program and want to change your major. The average student apparently changes their major 3 times so don't worry! It's not a race just enjoy your time being young and carefree!
What was your favourite university experience?
I went on exchange! If you have the opportunity and the means do it! I went to Australia and it changed my life! The overall experience is something that I will never forget! It taught me so much about myself.
What was your least favourite university experience?
The commute. It puts a strain. It's exhausting and sometimes I feel like I wasn't given the full university experience. But you can always make it up through something else...like exchange!
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
Time management. I was also working and doing full time work. I couldn't afford to not work so that wasn't an option. I worked part-time during my entire 4 years and that was something that was helpful and distracting at the same time. It got easier, managing my time but there were definitely times where work would seem more important that week.
If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?
I took this Creative Writing course and I learned so much from it! I learned how to write poems and we read about Prince. And read various short stories. Overall the prof was pretty chill also! It was one of those classes that really resonated with me and I am glad it did.

Have a good time! It'll go by fast! Then you will start referring to it as the good ole days!
