I was hesitant to choose York because its campus and facilities aren't the best compared to other Universities. However, I'm very happy I chose York because the Kinesiology program is known as one of the best. It was a better choice because it is easy to commute and was the closest option to my house. I chose to live at home instead of in a dorm because it is overall a cheaper and more convenient option.

I wish I would have done some more research on the program and familiarized myself with the University a little more. The campus tour did helped me make my decision to attend York because I was able to envision how my campus life would look like. So far, I am very happy with the professors in my program. It is easy to develop a close relationship with them because of organized student professor meet ups (office hours). Most of my professors teaching styles are easy to understand and straight-forward. York has a good community of determined people, which is encouraging.
What was your favourite university experience?Â
I loved doing labs for my kinesiology classes. I found the hands on experience was very helpful and educating because it allows us to learn how to apply what we learned into the real health and fitness practices.
What was your least favourite university experience?
Commuting during the winter was a very annoying experience. It was very tiring waiting for the bus and walking all around campus during harsh weather. I would recommend wearing lots of layers!
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
The math 1505 course was very difficult to keep up with. There is a lot of extensive material and the professor moves very fast. The number one thing I would recommend for succeeding in any course is to review the information right away instead of leaving it for the last minute. Most of the time there is so much material to learn that it is impossible to study all of it last minute.
If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?
My favourite courses were the Kinesiology 1000 and 020 courses. Kinesiology 1020 was a helpful overview of the health and fitness industry. It had a lot of basic and essential information. The Kinesiology 1000 course gave me a completely new and different perspective surrounding the sociocultural aspect of health and fitness. Some topics were controversial, but I believe it is a great course because the content is very applicable to everyday situations.
