What did you wish you knew before going to your university? What made you choose this institution over all others? What are advantages and disadvantages of your institution or campus? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your university.
I wish I knew how willing and open everyone is to making new friends. I went into university with the unhealthy mindset that I would not initiate conversations with other people as I wanted to focus on schoolwork. However, I realized how important these relationships are especially since I am not around my high-school friends or family.
What did you wish you knew before choosing your specific program? What are the advantages and disadvantages of your program? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your program of study.
My program is not as education intensive as I thought it would be. I only have an additional course along with the other credits for my undergrad.
What was your favourite university experience?
The people. I was able to experience a newfound independence along with all my friends which was really fun. It was nice seeing the variety of people and meeting new people.
What was your least favourite university experience?
In the second of school, I had arrived late to a lab by 30 minutes. Since my school usually started at the :30 interval, I had assumed my class would start at 10:30, not 10:00. Because of that one mistake, I lost 3% off my entire grade which in my opinion sucks. I actually completed the entire lab even though I missed 30 minutes, but they counted it as a 0%. I tried to email the person in charge to tell them I would redo it but they did not give me any grace or mercy.
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
Keeping up with readings that came before lectures were super difficult. I honestly didn't do them and that set back/limited how much I could take out from a lecture.
If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?
I am not sure but I think Math 121 just because I enjoyed my first semester prof. Alan Ableson posts online lectures on youtube which is helpful so I can fast forward or rewatch certain things.
